Rufus Collins (1790)

Gravestone of Rufus Collins (1790) at the Old Yard Cemetery in Columbia, Connecticut. Carved by his brother Zerubbabel Collins. Along with the nearby gravestone for Lydia Bennitt, this is one of only two marble stones that Collins sent back to his hometown of Columbia after he moved to Vermont.

Lydia Bennitt (1791)

Gravestone of Lydia Bennitt (1791) at the Old Yard Cemetery in Columbia, Connecticut. Carved by Zerubbabel Collins. This was one of the few stones that he sent back to Connecticut after moving to Vermont, where he had begun working in marble. Note the price inscription on the bottom: “Pr. 7 Dollars.”
