Nathan Hale (1776)

Gravestone (technically a cenotaph) of Nathan Hale (1776) at the Nathan Hale Cemetery in Coventry, Connecticut. He was buried somewhere in New York City after his execution, but this monument was installed in his hometown of Coventry. Also memorialized here is his brother Richard, who died in 1793, and Richard’s daughters Mary and Polly, who died in 1791 and 1793, respectively. Carved by Amasa Loomis.
